The Greater Manchester Way
Teaching Intensive | Research Informed | Assessment Enabled
2nd & 3rd September 2025
Welcome! We are so glad you could join us. If this is your first TIRIAE conference, well, you are in for a treat. For those more seasoned attendees, I assume you are back to savour another two days of everything that is good in higher education. As you can see, we have a slight name change this year, Teaching Intensive, Research Informed, Assessment Enabled, or simply put, TIRIAE.
We started planning for this year by listening to your feedback from 2024. In our call for abstracts we dispensed with set sub-themes and just asked you what you thought your peers and colleagues might want to see and hear. Our aim was to be as inclusive as possible, and we hope that is reflected in the final programme. It is important that we have some time and space to share our experiences innovations.
Planning the conference has been fun, especially meeting and working with people from across the whole university. I need to thank everyone for their help, including the student interns who filled my knowledge gaps around website design, social media and event management. Time is our most valuable commodity in life, and I was humbled when people continually gave theirs so freely to help set-up our event. This is your conference, so on behalf of the committee, our final request is purely to say please enjoy and make TIRIAE 2025 special.
Welcome to the 2025 TIRIAE Conference!
It's with immense pleasure that I welcome you to the 2025 TIRIAE Conference, our first annual teaching and research conference as the University of Greater Manchester. Our vision as a Teaching Intensive, Research Informed, and Assessment Enabled institution is ambitious, and I'm confident that the next two days will powerfully showcase the incredible breadth and depth of our collective achievements and aspirations in delivering on that vision.
We're proud to have recently been confirmed as 1st in the North West for Teaching Quality and 1st in the region over five years for student satisfaction. These accolades are a testament to our dedication. This year, we're also thrilled to have the highest number of student conference interns ever, directly demonstrating the skills and talents of our remarkable students.
